Honey is a most beloved sweeter in most household. Unfortunately, the same sentiment does not extent to the quaint, little creatures that make them. Unlike melodious birds or colourful butterflies, bees are neither popular nor appreciated. I decided to change that perception one weekend and introduced my kids to our frequently flower garden visitor. Home to tens and hundreds of bees, the farm gives an intimate look at the everyday life of the honourable bee.
There is a museum, which uncovers the mysteries of stingless bees and a store filled with homeopathic products whose primary ingredients are derived from bees and their by-products. If you’re brave enough, you can get up close and personal with these busy bodies. Walk among the hives and watch thousands of bees buzz by. Near the entrance is a hive sandwiched between two layers of clear glass, which instantly caught the attention of my kids.
